Title, Director, Runtime (Origin) Synopsis

  • 8 Second Dance, Trey Moya 8m (Denver, CO) Meet Bart Tyler: a cocky up-and-comer in the dangerous sport of professional bull riding. Live the passion and drama as a documentary film crew records Bart’s struggle to escape the looming shadow of his father, the infamous Bill ‘The Buzzerbeater’ Tyler, and become the champion he was meant to be.
  • 1095 Days, Han Fang Pao 21m (New York, NY) What is the biggest enemy in love? Some said time would change everything. With fear of time, we forgot to talk, to hug, and to be honest to each other. This is how we lost love and found it again.
  • 1674, Andrei Schiller-Chan 21m (Australia)  An innocent man is sent to prison for the sake of societal justice. When a private detective threatens to expose the man’s innocence, it has the potential to rock the foundations of the legal system. An ambitious young lawyer must decide whether society has more rights than the individual.
  • Above as Below, Michelle Arbon 2m (United Kingdom)  Inspired by the beautiful yet haunting poetry of WWII, Above As Below follows a young soldier during his first experience of war. Filled with tales of glory and valor, Fredrick is proud to be a soldier and thrilled to be fighting for his country. However, once confronted by the harsh realities of war, he is left to make a life changing decision.
  • All Conditions for a Story – Thriller, Ankica Juric Tilic 16m (Croatia) Today we are overwhelmed with various pseudo-documentary films that focus on violence exclusively for commercial purpose. These so-called documentaries have no aesthetic, kin-aesthetic or ethical purpose except sensationalism. Exploring how such scenes work if separated from the completed film and given without a comment, and what impact they have on a regular viewer. How are they perceived, and what do these scenes now mean?
  • Alone Together, Ben Kadie 24m (Bellevue, WA) A story of shipwrecks and love. After a terrible ocean storm, Brendan finds himself on a Chilean island with Eloise, the girl of his secret dreams. Alone together for the first time the two grow close, yet Brendan worries: if they leave the island will Eloise still need him?
  • Alternative Route, Sid Widmer 18m (Madras, OR) A man decides to take an alternate route on the way home and finds himself trapped in his own private nightmare as mysterious forces make sport of him.
  • Animal Control, Kire Paputts 17m (Canada) Before he met Sammy his best friends were stuffed animals. Larry, an eccentric amateur taxidermist, works for Animal Services picking up road kill along the highway. Socially isolated, he has retreated into an emotional state where his only companions are the animals he’s stuffed.
  • Aqua – Booty, Marta Renzi 5m (Nyack, NY) A beautiful synchronized water dance explored in this creative short experimental film.
  • Art of Dam Removal, The, Daniel Dancer 22m (Mosier, OR)  Blending explosive footage, emotion, and the power of a river freed after being blocked for 100 years, this video celebrates the power of art-activism and the role it played in the second largest dam removal project in world history. The 20-year effort to remove the antiquated Condit Dam on the White Salmon River in Washington state began when two salmon- and wild river-loving art activists dared to call for dam demolition.
  • As Goes Janesville, Brad Lichtenstein 83m (Milwaukee, WI) The front lines over the future of America’s middle class, a debate that became a battle over unions in Wisconsin. First, GM shut down Janesville’s century-old plant causing massive layoffs. Then, newly elected governor Scott Walker ignites a firestorm by ending collective bargaining unleashing a fury of protesters demanding a recall election. We tell the tale from inside, following 3 years in the lives of workers trying to reinvent themselves; business leaders aligned with the Governor to promote a pro-business agenda to woo companies to town, and a state senator trying to bring peace to his warring state and protect workers’ rights. As Goes Janesville, so goes America, a country mired in polarization and falling short of the American Dream.
